While my sisters were here we packed in as much as we could - a few of the other things we did were:
Took a nice walk along the Han River.
Did lots of shopping and eating in Iteawon. Took K & T on their very first ever subway ride. Went to the aquarium at the COEX mall. Went shopping in Osan for a second time. (K had to get another suitcase to take her goods home.) Went pottery shopping in Yeoju. And we lost T again, this time she had Boy 3 with her. Here I am finding them...they were lost among all the kimchi pots. That's it....1 month of fun packed into a very short 10 day vacation. Thanks for visiting T & K!!!

If you live here or are just visiting the Seoul City Bus Tour is something I think everyone should do!! (No, I don't work for the city of Seoul.) The tour is only 10,000 won per person. It runs from 9AM-9PM and there are something like 35 stop on the tour, there is NO WAY you can do everything on this tour in one day. If you want to take the tour, you can catch the bus anywhere you see this bus stop..... Most likely I will not be standing by the bus stop, but you never know. The stops my sisters and I made were: The War Memorial Namsangol Hanok (traditional Korean house) Village Namsan (Seoul) Tower Changgyeonggung Palace Insa-dong We barely scratched the surface. Here are T & K at the War Memorial. Namsangol Hanok Traditional Village 1.K & T never found the love for kimchi - they reluctantly agreed to take their picture by kimchi pots. 2. The time capsule at the village. The city of Seoul buried over 600 items in 1994, this (HUGE) time capsule will be dug up in 2394. 3. We lost T for a little while so I had to go find her. I found her scared and crying on a bench near the time capsule. (OK, just kidding, she wasn't crying, but that would have been funny.) I just like this picture of the two of us. Namsan Tower Some sort of show was going on, T & K were in *LOVE* with this guy! This is where you 'lock your love' at Namsan...kind of crazy, but cool. Aren't they cute? Waiting for the bus... Changgyeonggung Palace By this time the sisters were starting to wear down, but I kept dragging them along anyway. I just love these next two picture. Insa-dong was the last stop we made on the tour. Here are my sisters in front of my favorite little tea house. And here they are inside the tea house begging me to never make them move again. ;-)
I am officially 5 days behind on this blog...let's see if I can catch up, speed racer style... You can't really tell the absolute beauty of the hats in this picture so let me help you. Boy 2's hat has glitter all over it....very pretty. Girl's hat is OK, just a bit big. It says SEVEN on it, she picked it because she is 7, I'm just hoping it does not have some underlying message. Boy 3's hat is too small for his big head and it is yellow with baby blue writing on it that says 'Daddy's Boy'. He wanted the pink one, but I told him yellow was Daddy's favorite color so he better go with that. And K's hat....we call that an "ah-ge-ma" hat, or in English, and old lady hat. Hey, but check out that shadow it cast....at least she doesn't need to worry about the sun getting to her. So, I do have to give it up to our local ahgema, look what K tried, and I must add, she is the only guest we have ever had that has tried these.... Oh yummy....the sheer delight of bugs between your teeth!! If the show 'Fear Factor' were still around, I'd totally sign her up!
She said the meal worm larvae tastes like crawfish, however she opted out when I offered to buy her a cup full of them. So, my speed racer technique did not work.....It is time for me to get ready, I need to run to the store to buy sandwich stuff so we can have a 'power shopping' day. It's only 7AM here - I have to get to the commissary, come home, wake everyone, feed them breakfast, make lunches and hustle everyone out the door no later than 9AM, then we are off to Osan for MORE purses and then on to Yeoju for pottery shopping (thank goodness I already took my shower)......when my sisters leave, I am going to need a vacation. Until tomorrow - peace out.... My Sisters arrived in Seoul a week ago today, and we have been non-stop every day since! They arrived around 7PM, which in my opinion is perfect - arriving here at night, then going straight to bed. They haven't really had much jet lag (this will be a different story on the way home!). On Tuesday I took it easy on them...first to Camp Kim to have temporary ID cards made, then off to the Flying Pan Blue for breakfast (they read about this on my blog and HAD to try it!) Notice the plate sitting in front of Boy 3? Yummy..... After eating I showed them around Iteawon a bit, and then it was time to get the kids. The kids acted a bit shy at first around their aunts...it is hard when you haven't seen each other in over a year, but it didn't take long for them to warm up! For dinner we took them out for an almost traditional Korean meal (we did not sit on the floor), bulgogi & shab shab! They both loved the bulgogi, but T said she could live without the shab shab. After dinner we walked down to Emart & IPark mall where my sisters were able to see some of the kids modeling pictures! They were very excited about this! On day 2 I had a ton of stuff on our list of things to do....flower market, 2 malls, fish market, Chosun Gift Shop, manicure and pedicure. Well, I guess I didn't take into consideration that my sisters are new to Seoul, and everything is exciting and crazy, so we had to cut out list in half! They were a little concerned on the way to the flower market when I was running red lights. They didn't realize that some red lights are optional here. Seriously, some lights are optional. Once we arrived to the flower market in one piece, they were in awe! After spending a couple of hours at the flower market we headed over to the Shinsagea mall via the underground shopping area. Being the proud mom I am, I had to show them more modeling pictures of the kids, as well as the amazing food court at the mall. Before we knew it, it was time to leave to pick the kids up from school. The rest of our itinerary would have to wait for the next day! However we did hit up the Chosun Gift Shop here on post, which they loved. On Thursday we only had a couple of hours in the morning, as this was the last day of school for the kids and they got out at 11AM - so we dropped the kids off and headed over to the fish market! Again, they were in awe! After picking the kids up from school, Boy 1 babysat for us while we went to our favorite little Korean restaurant for lunch, the Mackerel Lady! (We invited the kids, but they don't like eating here...they wanted to stay home and eat PB&J's and play outside.) This time we sat on the floor, and since it was rush hour, we got to eat in the Mackerel Lady's house. (See the TV in on the right side behind K?) What a special treat for the sisters! Here I am posing right beside Mackerel ladies kitchen. The sweet little Mackerel Lady. After lunch we dropped Hubby off and headed over to get manicures and pedicures. A must while in Korea because they are so cheap, and GOOD! You can get both a mani & pedi for only $27 USD! Stay tuned....there is more to come!
See that little yellow truck just below Justin Bar? Run, don't walk to it! The smell coming from that little truck was enough to make me stop and look for it....not in a bad way like many of the smells that come from the streets here, this was an amazingly delicious smell, one that I haven't smelt in over a year. As I sniffed, I knew something great was cooking, and it was in the Mexican food category! Oh God, I thought I might be dreaming when I approached this yellow truck/taco stand. As I stood in the long line, everyone seemed very happy, but as I was watching the guys make the tacos, I was a little scared when I saw them squirt white and red stuff on the tacos. You never know what white or red stuff might be here in Korea. I mean sometimes there is white stuff on pizza...and that white stuff is a bit nasty. So, I was talking to my friend T while in line and said that I didn't think I wanted the white or red stuff on my taco. When Johnny, the owner heard me he said in perfect English "sour cream and hot sauce". Well, forgive me....of course I want sour cream and hot sauce on my taco! Here is Johnny- he calls himself the Naked Chef, I don't know why, he has clothes on. You can get beef or chicken tacos. We got both, and they are both equally delicious! Johnny is here from California; his taco stand is open in Iteawon from 8PM to 6AM every night. Tacos are 4,000 won each and totally worth it! In fact we are heading out right now to get one!
OK folks I know my blogging has been sporadic, but I have lots of excuses...First off, I'm busy, today was the last day of school - HOOAH! I love summer with the kids, but that is for a different blog. Also, my sisters are here visiting from the US, so whenever I have visitors I feel like I shouldn't be on the computer too much. Woodstock is a place our friends T & R enjoy going, after a few cocktails and people watching we understand why! Here is R & Hubby playing pool... Normally I would not put up a picture of my friend with his eyes closed, (and no, he was not drunk) but I had to put this picture in....see the guy behind my friends. I'll call him Bob, because I don't know his name and never want to know his name. This poor sap was so drunk, my friend T & I found him puking on the stairs!! Seriously. After he puked a bit, he went back in for more shots. You should have seen him 'trying' to hit on the girls. It was comedy, horror and drama all rolled up in one. While Bob was out puking, another guy caught our eye..... No, not the guy with the crazy spiky mohawk, but the guy across the table from him, the one sleeping. This guy slept the entire time we were at this bar! Check out the band in the back...they were playing Jimi Hendrix LOUD! I have no idea how this guy slept! T & I could not resist...we had to take a picture with him.

3 Men in a Tub On Friday Boy 2 was in the play 3 of a Kind. Here he is a one of the 3 Blind Mice.....
Summer is here and so are summer 'blue park' parties! If you missed the whole 'blue park' thing, blue park is the park behind our house. Before the parks were remodeled, they were color coded, this was easy for all parents and kids since there are 4 parks in our small neighborhood...the one behind our house was 'blue', so the name has stuck, blue park, even though blue is not the primary color of the park anymore. Kids just having fun... Grill master R... The pregnant one that will move away before we ever get to meet the baby. ;-( Comparing pictures...
