You can't imagine the noise these guys make EVERY AFTERNOON.
I thought geese flew south for the winter? Radiators. NEVER in my life have I experienced radiators, and let me tell you, they take some getting used to. Or maybe it is just the old house and the radiator combination, I don't know. Plus, they didn't give us directions on how to use them. They have dials, you can turn them up and down, but that really doesn't work very well. Some rooms are freezing while others are burning, and it is not consistent. Sometimes the office/mud room is burning, sometimes it is frozen over - same with every room in this old house. OK, in all honesty, I'm not used to radiators and if I am being really honest, I don't much care for radiators. They are noisy, clanking at all hours of the night, they spew water, they gurgle and they are hot to the touch, sometimes -- that is when they are working. Any-who - with all that being said, I have found a way to love our radiators.....on a cold winter's day, toss your coat and gloves on them before heading out to the bus stop! The kids love it when I get their coats 'ready' for school in the mornings!
Over the next few weeks (honestly - most of the winter!) I will be documenting our home as well as things in our home as it really is too stinking cold for field trips.
These are paintbrushes I bought at a market in Shanghai, China. Sunrise from Jamestown, looking at Newport Bridge and Newport. This morning I took Boy 1 to the airport to head back to Boise for his 2nd semester of college. My heart was breaking. This time was harder than the last 2 times I said goodbye. I think it is because this time I knew. I knew he wasn't coming back to live with us. He has started planning HIS life, a life that doesn't include Mom and Dad too much. While he was home we talked about HIS plans, HIS goals, HIS life. This summer HE is getting an apartment and staying in Boise for the summer. He won't come home to to live with Mom and Dad for the summer. Sure we will see him from time to time, vacations and holidays, but he is gone. HIS story has begun. Even though I will miss his spirit in our home, I can't wait to see what HIS life has in store for him. Today our temps were in the single digits all day. In fact, when I woke up it was 1 degree. Welcome to winter, New England style. Hubby sent a text telling me to go check out the water because the sea fog was rolling in. Luckily I'm able to walk out the front door (or just look out the window!) to see it because Hubby's car wouldn't start today and he had to take mine! I couldn't decide which picture to post, so here are both of them.....the one below is of it rolling into the bay outside our house.
We had our first snowfall today so on the way home from swim I made a detour to get a picture of "The Wave". A statue on the corner of Thames St and Memorial with feet sticking out. This statue is always a topic of conversation when driving by because you never know if the feet will have socks on or not. Poor guy needed socks on tonight!
What a difference a day makes!
This picture was taken in the same spot (in the middle of the street!) as yesterday's photo just 22 hours later. |
TrishHere I go again! Last year I learn SO much about photography while doing the 365, but there is so much more to learn! My ultimate goal was to learn to shoot in manual mode in which I succeeded. However I know I need to fine tune many, many aspects of my photography. Categories
