Well most of us anyway.
As I sit here in seat 17A on my way to Dallas from Killeen with tears stream from my eyes my heart hurts. I just said goodbye to Boy 1. My heart is broken and proud all at the same time. What an amazing young man he has turned out to be. Just over 20 years ago I had no idea how life changing having a child would be. Having Boy 1 made me a better person - that sweet little baby stole my heart. Now saying goodbye to that giant young man broke it. I know I'll see him soon, but damn it hurts!
Day 1:
After 22 hours of travel we dropped 13 bags (for 3 people - ridiculous, I know!) off at the Dragon Hill Lodge and headed out for our first meal in Korea to no other place but our favorite restaurant, the Mackerel Lady restaurant!! We were greeted with open arms, a big smile, hugs and AMAZING food!!

On our way to and from the restaurant, we walked through a peaceful protest where every smiled and waved to us. So much different than the 'peaceful protest' in the states.

Unfortunately not everything has been smooth, but we are feeling very comfortable being back in 'The Land of the not Quite Right'. Housing....ALWAYS an issue.... We were promised a great house that we were super excited about and we actually changed the contents of the household goods we were shipping because it had an amazing backyard (which if you know us, you know that is important to us) and we shipped a TON of outdoor furniture that we normally would not have shipped but we did so BECAUSE of the house we were offered AND we accepted! We were feeling SO BLESSED that for the 1st time in the history of living on post that the housing portion was coming easy.
Any who...Hubby went to pick up the keys before heading to the airport to pick us up and was greeted with a cringe and the good ol 'air sucking through the teeth' type of greeting. (This type of greeting means they are about to tell you something bad!) He was then informed that we could not have the house we were promised, because they promised it to someone else before they promised it to us --- oh, and they gave away the house that was saved for us, because this new better house became available. I am trying REALLY hard not to have a bad attitude about this. We were expecting to move into the house in about a week. We have now been informed that we will now be living in the hotel through at least mid August because the house they had reserved for, they gave away to another family and all the other houses coming available have been promised to others. Are you kidding me?!? It's only 7AM here in Korea and I already need a drink. Where's the soju?!?
