Some of you may not know this, but the 4th of July, Independence Day is my FAVORITE HOLIDAY EVER. That's right, I like it more than Christmas, Thanksgiving and even more than Halloween. I have told all of our children that when they get married I don't care if they come home for Christmas, Thanksgiving or any other holiday as long as they come home for the 4th of July! I mean think about it. You get them longer, and you get them during the summer! It is a holiday fun day! There is really NO STRESS involved when it comes to the 4th! You throw some burgers on the grill, you swim and you blow things up! How fun is that?! On the 3rd our family hit the road again and headed to Shreveport, LA! My favorite place to spend the 4th. I spend it with my sisters from another mother. I've known these girls for years, Kimberly and I go W A Y back, but that is a story for another time. Today it is about the BREAD. You seek Kak, the beautiful lady in the top center? She makes this amazing cinnamon bread with a starter that has been going for something like 50 years.. It is so good FIGHTS BREAK out over it. People steel it and hide it. True story. We could smell it when she drove up. We were like flies on ....well you know the saying. Anyway I insisted on a photo before we dove in. Blue tongue on the end took a bite right after this photo was taken and then 2 loaves disappeared. Blue tongue and I found one loaf later in a drawer and ate it ALL BY OURSELVES..(well, I do think I shared a bite with Hubby). That's what you get (Kimberly!) for trying to hide Kak's awesome bread. This picture is a product of many tears after sitting in the hall outside my sister's hospital room talking with the hospice lady, making choices we don't want to make. Even though it doesn't show too much, if you look close you will see puffy eyes and sadness deep in our souls. I had to break the ice and make them all do a selfie with me, since I am known to my family as the selfie queen, the wild one, the bossy one and so many more things I can't post here. So many hard days have passed....so many more to come. Photo taken with iPhone
While in Hawaii I received the heartbreaking new that my sister was back in the hospital and not doing very well. This trip home was very emotional. My first stop really wasn't the Denton Square, but it was to Denton Presbyterian Hospital to see my sister with a heart was full of hurt. I wish I had pulled out my 'real' camera on this part of my journey, but I didn't feel it was 'appropriate' so I just snapped this picture of my sister, the grand baby she adores and my her daughter with my iPad. Little did I know at the time this would be the last picture that would be taken of the 3 of them together. Photo taken with iPad
That's right, my home town of Denton, Texas! The first picture taken with my new iPhone!
I'm officially stateside. Someone is a natural. She was able to get up her first time and ride it all the way to shore! Lens: Canon 75-300mm / ISO: 100 / Aperture: F/5.6 / Focal Length: 300mm / Shutter Speed 1/320 sec

Project 365
Am I insane? Have I lost my mind? After thinking long and hard about it (OK, really I only thought about it for about 12 hours) I just committed to doing a photo a day for a year - a 365 'they' call it. This is going to be SUPER HARD for me. Not the photo part, but the editing part. I mean you guys KNOW how far behind I am. A photo a day - that doesn't sound like much, but in reality, who are we kidding? Anyway I'm going to TRY to post each day, but there will be times I might be MIA for a couple of days, just bear with me and I will catch up. Archives
