Let's get something straight.
I DON'T do diets.
I never have and I never will.
I have a not so secret love affair with food.
Brown butter is my friend.
Fresh mozzarella, oh how I love you.
I can eat an entire GIANT bowl homemade popcorn with tons of butter and half a bottle of that white cheddar powder crap by Kernel Season's -did you know there are 21 ingredients in that stuff INCLUDING silicon?!?  WTF?
I LOVE lattes with skim milk.
Crackers and cheese with a glass of wine is my go to meal when Hubby is not home...

--BUT--

All of that stops tomorrow.
Hubby and I are doing The Whole 30.
We are not looking at it as a diet.
It is a lifestyle.
Our new lifestyle.
One that I have slowly been converting us to without even knowing what The Whole 30 was.
I have been doing it for personal reason.  As many of you know my sweet Momma has Alzheimer's, her mom had it and my Father's mother had it too.  I am doomed, but I'm not going down without a fight.  I've been researching, researching and researching some more.  I've been eating lots of 'brain foods', reading way more and diligently working out.  The fight is on.

Anyway, long story short, one thing lead to another and Hubby and I decided it was time to cleanse our bodies of all the nasty funk we have put in them for years.  I mean I want to live to see my youngest have children, and I want to be there in the moment when it happens.  And hey, if I lose a few pounds along the way, well, that is a win-win.  (In fact I would really like to see 7 pounds leave my body and never come back.)

So here goes...tomorrow we start on our new life journey of healthier eating.
Don't get me wrong.  I'm not totally giving up fresh mozzarella, crackers and wine.  I'm just taking a break from them and I won't be eating them as often when these next 30 days are over.  However I am going to have to rethink that white cheddar popcorn silicon powder!

I will try super hard to make daily journal entries and show you what we are eating and how we are feeling.
The folks over at The Whole 30 broke it down nicely for us on what to expect day by day during The Whole 30.
I REALLY hope it is not as bad as they say!
AND if I really do get the day 2-3 hangover and I haven't even had a sip of booze, well just know I am NOT going to be a happy camper.
If I have a hangover there better be a good bottle or two of vino involved!

So, here we go...I started drinking black coffee 5 days ago - it can't get any worse, can it?  :o)

Yay! I'm going to love reading this. My husband is eating Paleo and I never really know what to fix him for dinner except to take out the rice or add some sweet potatoes. The food you are making looks delicious and I'm looking forward to your recipes. Are you buying most of your food from the commissary or do you get any of the produce off base? The vegetables at our local market are so much more beautiful than the commissary and cheap too. Unfortunately I still do most of my shopping at the commissary so I just make one stop. But I should probably make more of an effort to consistently shop for produce off base. (Always get my eggs at the market though. Can't beat those pallets of 30 eggs!) Anyway, good luck with this! I'm feeling inspired already.

I'm sorry I never answered this!!
I do buy lots of stuff at the commissary, but often times I will buy fruits and veggies from local markets or Emart. I would rather go off post to get fruits/veggies and organic stuff, but the commissary is 2 minutes from my house....
