Dongdaemun, Again

This past week my friend M and I went to Dongdaemun.  This time we went to an area that was a little slice of heaven for me.  She showed the KITCHEN area to!  Wow, wow, wow, wow.  I was so happy.  This first picture is of my friend M. in one of the kitchen stores....(look at all the baking pans around her).

There were kitchen stores every where.  You could buy anything your little heart desired, from cupcake tins, to a giant HOBART dough mixer.  Seeing the Hobart reminded me of my time working at Godfather's Pizza back in high school.

We went into one little store that was fantastic, it had all sorts of specialty foods; I got HUGE bars of chocolate (for baking) for less than $2 USD.  You never know what to expect when it comes to how much things cost here in Korea.  I found a big bag (about 16oz) of pine nuts, which I would expect to be very expensive, nope, less than $3 USD, on the other hand, a 12 oz bag of pecans would have cost a hefty $18 USD!  Go figure.

My very favorite store in this area, was the packaging store, E&PACK.  You could get any type of food packaging materials here that you could ever dream.

My favorite thing about this store, you can order custom made to go bags!!  I can't wait to come up with a logo for myself, then head back in and purchase some personalized bags!  Woo-hoo!

After being on a kitchen high for a couple of hours we decided to try to find a restaurant both myself and my friend had read about on separate blogs.  On our way, we cut through a shopping area where you could purchase any type of hat you might need.....

Do you need a belt? This store had a small selection...

My friend M and I were both surprised when we found the restaurant we were looking for....

EVEREST RESTAURANT...Nepalese, Indian and Tibetan food.  This place was GREAT!  The curry here is fantastic and the prices are very affordable.  We both ate for 10,000 won each.  I can't wait to take my Hubby back here, he is going to LOVE it.  Here is what we had...

The red curry was a chicken curry and the mustard color was a vegetable type curry.  I tried to decide which my favorite was, but they were both equally good.

I will leave you with a picture of us inside the restaurant.....

Proud Army wife and mother to 4 wonderful children.  I love to cook, travel, work out and scrapbook life’s adventures when I find the time.  We just got orders & are heading back to the states in March 2010.  I'm bummed that our time has been cut short, but proud of Hubby for the reason why.
