Gingerbread Houses

I wish I could say that building gingerbread houses is a yearly tradition, but the truth of the matter is that it is not.  I always have good intentions, but about half the time it never pans out, as we get too busy with other holiday stuff to fill our time.  This year I didn't think it would work out again, but while at the commissary, I noticed gingerbread Pop Tarts.  Hummm...I picked them up thinking I should buy these as a special treat for the kids (they NEVER get Pop Tarts), as I turned the box over to look at the ingredient list (knowing fully I was going to put them back once I read the ingredients) I noticed a recipe for a gingerbread house made from these Pop Tarts!  HOLY COW...an easy gingerbread house plus as a bonus my kids get a treat they will love.  I didn't bother to look at the ingredient list at this point.  I just bought them.

I'm not mentioning names, but this project proved to be a challenge for someone in our family.

Hi! Can you tell me where you got the frosting in Seoul? I'm a chaplain at a Seoul school, and we're doing an Elf screening and gingerbread house making contest - but I don't know where to buy the supplies...

Sam, I live on post and bought the frosting at the commissary on post. I'm sorry if that does not help you out...

Proud Army wife and mother to 4 wonderful children.  I love to cook, travel, work out and scrapbook life’s adventures when I find the time.  We just got orders & are heading back to the states in March 2010.  I'm bummed that our time has been cut short, but proud of Hubby for the reason why.
