Killing gnats/fruit flies

I thought this recipe deserved a blog of its own.  Last year at my friends 4th of July party we were invaded by these pesky little insects, then this year, in keeping with tradition, they decided to attend my 4th of July party.  I found this recipe and used it last year, since then I have passed it out a handful of times.  It works, but it works slowly, so be patient.  Within 24-48 hours you should be rid of your fruit flies.

2 TBL sugar
½ cup vinegar
1 TSP dish soap

Pour this mixture into a small dish, custard cups work well, be careful not to make suds.  Leave the cup and its contents in the area you are plagued with these pest – don’t move it.  I make a couple of cups to sit around the area.  Be patient.

We couldn't remember the recipe during our 4th celebration so we improvised and had soap and sugar in a cup and that worked too. And pretty fast...

That stuff is magical...love it. Hey, Trish - will you post your Cuban sandwich recipe (or email it to me?). I'd be interested to see how it's done at your casa, since I'm sure that your hubby has eaten the "real thing". I've never been to Cuba, so I don't have any idea how authentic my version is.

PS - your comment about me being responsible for everybody having caffeine in their veins was so funny that it was me spew my drink (coffee, of course) on my computer screen!

Proud Army wife and mother to 4 wonderful children.  I love to cook, travel, work out and scrapbook life’s adventures when I find the time.  We just got orders & are heading back to the states in March 2010.  I'm bummed that our time has been cut short, but proud of Hubby for the reason why.
