As a mom of a middle schooler, I feel it is VERY IMPORTANT to volunteer in the middle school; many times middle school is where we start to lose our preteens and teens. In elementary school you see volunteers all over the halls, in the classroom, library, and in the lunchroom - parents are eager to volunteer, and that is FANTASTIC. It is rare to walk into an elementary school and NOT see a parent volunteer, but if you walk into a middle school, it IS rare to see parent volunteers, and in my opinion this is where our kids need us the most. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking volunteering at the elementary school, please volunteer at your kid's elementary school. I'm just asking that you don't forget about your middle school child....and that is exactly what the AMAZING group of women has done.
~ Don't ever question the value of volunteers. Noah's Ark was built by volunteers; the Titanic was built by professionals. ~ As a mom of a middle schooler, I feel it is VERY IMPORTANT to volunteer in the middle school; many times middle school is where we start to lose our preteens and teens. Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart. ~Elizabeth Andrew Each of these women (and a few more that are not pictured) give their time to work in the Dawg House at SAMS (Seoul American Middle School) each week! Ladies you ROCK! Thanks for giving your time, kindness, and love. Thanks for being there in the heat, cold, rain and wind....these women deliver under any circumstance....and let me tell you it is COLD in the Dawg House on days like today when it is only 10 degrees fahrenheit outside. I wish I had a better picture of the DH, but here it is close up...it is a little stand alone building outside with no central heat or air, we have to leave the water dripping in winter months or we have no water....and we need LOTS of water because middle schoolers LOVE HOT ramen on COLD days!! Notice the windows are all rolled up, this allows ALL the weather in! Volunteers aren't paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless. Here are a few pictures from our volunteer luncheon ~ Volunteers do it for free. Thanks for all you do ladies!

AuthorProud Army wife and mother to 4 wonderful children. I love to cook, travel, work out and scrapbook life’s adventures when I find the time. We just got orders & are heading back to the states in March 2010. I'm bummed that our time has been cut short, but proud of Hubby for the reason why. Archives
