Today was the 1st yoga class for kids at studio where I take yoga.
Boy 3 was game and kind of excited about trying it, but Boy 2 was TICKED that I was making him go. Boy 2 LOVED yoga, and he's a natural. This is one of the many snow mounds around Newport, we are expecting 6-10 more inches of snow tonight. I'm not sure where they are going to put it all.
I am amazed every single time I watch sunrise. The colors are so vibrant. I used to think most pictures of sunrise on the web were Photoshopped...until I moved to Rhode Island.
True, vibrant & unique colors with each sunrise. No editing of any kind here. Sunrise from Jamestown, looking at Newport Bridge and Newport. This morning I took Boy 1 to the airport to head back to Boise for his 2nd semester of college. My heart was breaking. This time was harder than the last 2 times I said goodbye. I think it is because this time I knew. I knew he wasn't coming back to live with us. He has started planning HIS life, a life that doesn't include Mom and Dad too much. While he was home we talked about HIS plans, HIS goals, HIS life. This summer HE is getting an apartment and staying in Boise for the summer. He won't come home to to live with Mom and Dad for the summer. Sure we will see him from time to time, vacations and holidays, but he is gone. HIS story has begun. Even though I will miss his spirit in our home, I can't wait to see what HIS life has in store for him. We had our first snowfall today so on the way home from swim I made a detour to get a picture of "The Wave". A statue on the corner of Thames St and Memorial with feet sticking out. This statue is always a topic of conversation when driving by because you never know if the feet will have socks on or not. Poor guy needed socks on tonight!
What a difference a day makes!
This picture was taken in the same spot (in the middle of the street!) as yesterday's photo just 22 hours later. On a clear day you can see the Newport Bridge in the background.
I ran out to snap this picture today because of the fog....for the past month the Yacht Club has been outlined in lights which I have thoroughly enjoyed! I was hoping to catch it in the fog with the lights on, but no such luck, However, I love this look. Notice how the sidewalk is littered with shells? You can thank the seagulls for that! They are some messy little creatures! A little about Ida Lewis; what a woman! Born in Newport in 1842, she became the first woman to receive the Congressional Medal for saving lives! During her 39 years on Lime Rock (which was later renamed the Ida Lewis Rock), she was credited for saving more than 18 lives. Her first rescue was in 1858 at the age of 17, and her last was at the age of 63 when she saved a close friend who was coming to see her. She became the highest paid lighthouse keeper of that time earning $750 a year! She was credited for saving more than 18 lives. To learn more about Ida Lewis click here. |
TrishHere I go again! Last year I learn SO much about photography while doing the 365, but there is so much more to learn! My ultimate goal was to learn to shoot in manual mode in which I succeeded. However I know I need to fine tune many, many aspects of my photography. Categories
