While in Hawaii I received the heartbreaking new that my sister was back in the hospital and not doing very well. This trip home was very emotional. My first stop really wasn't the Denton Square, but it was to Denton Presbyterian Hospital to see my sister with a heart was full of hurt. I wish I had pulled out my 'real' camera on this part of my journey, but I didn't feel it was 'appropriate' so I just snapped this picture of my sister, the grand baby she adores and my her daughter with my iPad. Little did I know at the time this would be the last picture that would be taken of the 3 of them together. Photo taken with iPad
That's right, my home town of Denton, Texas! The first picture taken with my new iPhone!
I'm officially stateside. Someone is a natural. She was able to get up her first time and ride it all the way to shore! Lens: Canon 75-300mm / ISO: 100 / Aperture: F/5.6 / Focal Length: 300mm / Shutter Speed 1/320 sec
Some people say that the Waianea area is rough & there is nothing to do 'out there', but I say for anyone going to Hawaii, if you are military you must stay at Pililaau. It is flipping spectacular! We couldn't have been more happy here. The bays behind our house were perfect, once side was calm, perfect for paddle boarding and not to mention almost EVERY MORNING the dolphins came in to play!! The other side was full of wave and the kids played on boogie boards and surfed! We had such a great time here we didn't even leave our rental other than to hang out on the beach! I'm discovering more and more (even though I already knew) that I am a total beach person. There is just something so calming about being on the water and God knows I need calm. Lens: Canon 70-300mm / ISO: 100 / Aperture: F/5.6 / Focal Length: 300mm / Shutter Speed 1/640 sec
We were blessed to be able to get a house at Pililaau Army Rec in Waianea for most of our stay in Hawaii. This picture was taken out our back door. Lens: Tameron 18-270mm / ISO: 1600 / Aperture: F/5.0 / Focal Length: 46mm / Shutter Speed 1/160 sec
Happiness is: Blue skies, puffy white clouds, the beach, Hawaii and SNOW CONES! Lens: Tameron 18-270mm / ISO: 100 / Aperture: F/5.0 / Focal Length: 46mm / Shutter Speed 1/800 sec

Project 365
Am I insane? Have I lost my mind? After thinking long and hard about it (OK, really I only thought about it for about 12 hours) I just committed to doing a photo a day for a year - a 365 'they' call it. This is going to be SUPER HARD for me. Not the photo part, but the editing part. I mean you guys KNOW how far behind I am. A photo a day - that doesn't sound like much, but in reality, who are we kidding? Anyway I'm going to TRY to post each day, but there will be times I might be MIA for a couple of days, just bear with me and I will catch up. Archives
