There are so many reason why I love this city and this is one of them. See all those bags? During night shopping you see this ALL OVER THE PLACE. People shop and then they drop their things off on the street and go back to shop for more and no one bothers their things. TRUE STORY!!! If you live here and you have never been night shopping you NEED to go. You should NOT leave this city without going night shopping.
This picture doesn't even do it justice.

So technically I didn't take this picture someone else did, but it was with my camera and I set it up and I edited it so I'm using it.
This was from the Yongsan Army/Navy pep rally! GO ARMY!! Happy Thanksgiving to all our family and friends around the world. As you guys in the states are just now waking up, we are putting our comfy pants on and going for round 3 of desserts.
Even though we are far from home our hearts are with you all and our table was filled with memories from Thanksgivings past. From Mom's stuffing and giblet gravy to MIL's stuffed celery to Grandma W's green bean casserole (don't freak out, I didn't make it!). Thanks for all the love and support you have given us over the years. Happy Thanksgiving! Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the house everyone was waiting for Boy 2 to stick his finger in a pie! When he ask early in the day (with a twinkle in his eye) if the pies were all done I KNEW he remembered. He picked the coconut meringue pie, a pie new to the line up this year. Mom always made coconut meringue but I never really like them. Now I eat coconut and drink coconut drinks all the time so I thought "What the heck - I should try a coconut meringue!" TOTALLY GOOD. Everyone but Boy 3 gobbled it down. Another Thanksgiving tradition in our house.....see the vase with stick in it? See the hand cut leaves on the table? Those are the makings for our Thankful Tree. You write what you are thankful for on the leaves and stick them to the tree using scotch tape. Fun and easy and so much less stressful for those that are too shy or those that get too emotional to share at your Thanksgiving table. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
With Thanksgiving in full swing I totally neglected my family and didn't make dinner.
Boy 1 found that unacceptable and decided to cook. Bacon, bacon and more bacon. That's what was for dinner. Winter swim team is in full force.
Time to break out the parkas for the run from the pool to the car. I am so proud of the progress this boy has made - this is his 4th season on swim team - he has gone from being one of the slowest swimmers in his age group to one of the fastest in his age group. When leaving practice the other day he said to me (with a smile on his face & excitement in his voice) "I'm so fast & finish so much earlier than the others that coach is making me swim extra laps!" I love that the extra work makes him happy! (I wish that excitement would carry over when I make him do extra work! :) It's that time of year again - the time of year where Army & Navy are divided for just a few hours. The biggest football game of the year on Yongsan where we have a Army/Navy football game all our own! Here a few of our Army cheerleader spouses getting ready for the big game. I encourage everyone to come out on FRIDAY the 29th at 5PM for the Pep-rally at R&R parking lot!
There will EVEN be a BONFIRE! The Yongsan Army/Navy game will be Saturday at 11AM at the High School football field! I hope to see you there wearing your best ARMY gear!! GO ARMY! SINK NAVY!! OinK = Only in Korea. At a bar. True Story.
AND he was sitting on an 'o- ring', the type you get after having a baby. I CANNOT make this stuff up. Sorry....I just had to post a 2nd picture: Yes, she is feeling better. Good enough to perform on Friday night. Her one woman performance blew me out of the water. I was rolling! She was Sir Isaac Newton's niece. I wish I had caught it on video as I could not believe that was my daughter. Simply amazing!
This was his 3rd time to try out for swim team. It would have been his 4th if he didn't have to have ear surgery during last seasons try outs. The kid can swim the length of the pool and back he does it with such awkwardness that the life guard are constantly trying to save him. But he never gets discouraged. In fact each time he didn't make swim team he tried harder. Every time we go to the pool BEFORE he has fun playing in the pool he has a rule for himself - he must swim 4 laps (back and forth!) before he can play. The entire time the life guards are following him. He pays them no mind and just swims.
On Tuesday he tried out for swim team again - I prepared him for not making it in a very kind motherly way. He told me if he didn't make it this time that I needed to take him to the pool EVERY DAY after school so he could practice. Oh goodness....I was prepared to work out a schedule. We had a special try out since we have had a couple of crazy weeks. He was the only one in the water and you could hear him swimming down the lane! It looked like something out of a JAWS movie. True Story. He got out after doing one lap with ease and started drying off - the coaches started chatting. Coach J came over to him and told him he made it!! She said he has drive and stamina and they can work with that! He was SO PROUD! I was SO PROUD....and shocked! As we were walking out of the pool on Tuesday he looked up at me and said, "Mom, I KNEW I was gonna make it this time - I knew it!" This picture is from Day 1 of practice. He was listening so intensely on the guidance Coach J was giving him. He ROCKED day 1. |
Project 365
Am I insane? Have I lost my mind? After thinking long and hard about it (OK, really I only thought about it for about 12 hours) I just committed to doing a photo a day for a year - a 365 'they' call it. This is going to be SUPER HARD for me. Not the photo part, but the editing part. I mean you guys KNOW how far behind I am. A photo a day - that doesn't sound like much, but in reality, who are we kidding? Anyway I'm going to TRY to post each day, but there will be times I might be MIA for a couple of days, just bear with me and I will catch up. Archives
