Day 203 - Going Home, The Road to Delhi

Not an uncommon site in India.
Just riding his elephant home.
A few other things I saw going down the street:
Cows, lots and lots of cows.  They own the roads, and are not even phased when you blow your car horn.
People on horseback.
People on camelback.
People walking their camels down the road.
People walking their donkeys down the road...I don't think I saw people riding donkeys.
Monkeys everywhere.

Day 202 - Jaipur

Off the beaten path.
Our driver has been driving tourist around for 10 years and this was the first time he had ever been here.

Step wells are an ancient system used for collecting rain water.
That's really all I know about these amazing structures other than they are super cool,
both literally, it was much cooler at the bottom and physically, I mean check this bad boy out!
Not to mention monkeys like to hang out here.

PS....the drive out of Agra to Jaipur caught up with Hubby.  Unfortunately it appears his tummy is not made of steel after all.  He was down a good 24 hours as well.

Day 201 - Taj Mahal!

The Taj Mahal!
Pinch me, I must be dreaming!
The Taj is magnificent!  Construction started in 1632 and was completed around 1653.
Made from marble & jewels because  Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan was so heartbroken by the death of his 3rd wife, Mumtaz Mahal.   Mumtaz Mahal died during childbirth with their 14th child in 1631.
Shah Jahan was so in love with her and so heartbroken that he had the Taj Mahal built for her.
He had to move her body twice before she was placed in her final resting place, the Taj Mahal.

Day 200 - Agra, India

Day 200 I was SICK AS A DOG.
True Story.
We ate street food in Delhi on day 199.
We think because we are well traveled our tummy's can handle it.
BAD CALL my tummy is not all that.
After being up ALL NIGHT... we hopped in a car (OK...I crawled) and drove 5 hours in a car to Agra.
I slept the entire way.
Thank God I went to preventive meds and picked up antibiotics & other meds for this trip.
This is the only picture I took on day 200 & it is blurry & bad -- that's what happens when you are trying not to barf.
After this picture I fell into bed and passed out for the rest of the night and Hubby went out on his own.
Not feeling the love in Agra.

Day 199 - Humayun's Tomb, Delhi, India

This tomb was build for Humayun by his first wife, Bega Begum.  Construction started in 1565, 9 years after his death.  It was completed in 1572.  Begum was so grieved over her husband's death she dedicated her life to building the most magnificent mausoleum in the Empire!  Wow....I would totally do that for my husband if I had the means, but not if he had other wives - I would have to be his one and only....just sayin'.

    Click It Up A Notch

    Project 365

Am I insane?  Have I lost my mind?  After thinking long and hard about it (OK, really I only thought about it for about 12 hours) I just committed to doing a photo a day for a year - a 365 'they' call it.  This is going to be SUPER HARD for me. Not the photo part, but the editing part. I mean you guys KNOW how far behind I am.  A photo a day - that doesn't sound like much, but in reality, who are we kidding?  Anyway  I'm going to TRY to post each day, but there will be times I might be MIA for a couple of days, just bear with me and I will catch up.

One of my goals throughout this 365 is to be able to shoot anything I want to in manual. The next is to have fun capturing this next crazy year of our life. In the next 365 you will see: at least 2 more countries, a HS graduation, an international move to most likely 2 different states, the heartbreak of a mom as she sends her first born off to college and so much more....

Please make sure you cheer me on after all I am a "Words of Affirmation" girl. :o)
