Boy 2 celebrated his birthday camping with his Dad, brother and a few friends.
I didn't post one of those pictures because - well quite frankly I was not invited. True Story. When the boys arrived back home I did provide them with birthday cake. Isn't he just the cutest?! When you open your heart to giving, angels fly to your door. These two ladies are TOTAL ANGELS. Something many of you don't know about me is that I was PTO president this past year for the elementary school here on post. These two ladies in the picture are 2 of the most FABULOUS board members a president could ask for. I know some of the other board members reading this are thinking 'hey, what about me...' Well, let's get this out of the way so their are only a few hurt feelings, 90% of the board members ROCKED it out this year, (the other 10% -- well as we all know there are always a few crazies you have to deal with in any organization!) these two (non-crazies) just happened to be the ones I snapped a shot of on this day! ;) The one in the blue is an AMAZING Volunteer that was in the school EVERY WEEK running our school store. When she wasn't working the store, she was out shopping for the store. AND the last week two weeks in April and the first few weeks in May she pretty much single-handedly ran the 'behind the scenes' portion of our school Walk-A-Thon that involved over 1,100 kids and PROFITED over $10,000 for our school. Imagine how many hours you think she may have spent on this and then multiply that by 5. The other person in the picture is our amazing treasurer. Get this: She doesn't even have kids that attend our school!! Are you KIDDING ME?!?! She pulled her kids out to home-school them, but because she made a commitment to be the treasurer BEFORE she made the decision to home-school she HONORED her commitment. This woman blows me away! She was my right hand and she always had an ear if I ever needed to vent. And yes, I needed to vent a few times! ;) Thanks for all you gave to this school, to our children, and to our community. Seoul American Elementary School and our Yongsan community is a better place because of you ladies! Counting, counting and recounting over $10,000 raised for our school from our 1st ever Walk-A-Thon.
Thank you to all SAES Volunteers. The world is a better place because you are in it. Boy 1 was awarded his first scholarship from AFSC.
It's getting real. My boy is growing up against my will. It blows my mind that he is actually 11 years old.
I'm not sure how this happened, it seems like only yesterday he was born! Happy Birthday to my FAVORITE 11 year old! I love you Blue!! Hubby took me to see John Mayer Live in Seoul and I ran into my good buddy Audrey! I find it AMAZING that I live in a city with over 25million people and I STILL run into people I know! Man I love this city! Picture taken with crappy phone so please excuse the poor quality. ;)
Sometimes you see something and you know you just HAVE to have it. That was me with this phone booth. Six in Seoul are now proud owners of a phone booth. True Story. After all our friends helped us move it (along with the delivery guy) they all told us that they are sure we are going to BUST our weight allowance going back to the US.
And yes, I know my plant is dead. I have a green thumb like that. This year the all night walk for a cure meant more to me than ever before. Cancer has always been a part of my life. As a child I lost my father to it and over the years I have watched as family members and friends have fought this nasty disease. I have supported and cheered on family and friends from the sidelines. This year is different. When you sit beside someone actually going through it and you help them day in and day out it takes on a different meaning. I thought I hated cancer before (and those of you that know me know I NEVER use the word HATE - it is too strong and too powerful), but now I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that I absolutely HATE cancer. It is vicious and evil. To all those out there fighting the fight, I wish I could take it away from you. But for now I will walk for you. I will think of you. I will pray for you. I will do what I can for you. And I will hate cancer for you EVER.SINGLE.DAY of my life. One of my best friends and survivors of 3 years, walking in the survivor lap with her husband.
It is true.
They amaze me every single day. Someday I want to grow up and be as strong and resilient our my children. For those of you that don't know him, this is a BIG DEAL. He is an introvert. He does not like being in the spotlight UNLESS he knows you. I ask his permission to post this picture. He spoke, he danced, he sang & he performed in front of an audience. WAY FAR out of his comfort zone. And he was amazing. |
Project 365
Am I insane? Have I lost my mind? After thinking long and hard about it (OK, really I only thought about it for about 12 hours) I just committed to doing a photo a day for a year - a 365 'they' call it. This is going to be SUPER HARD for me. Not the photo part, but the editing part. I mean you guys KNOW how far behind I am. A photo a day - that doesn't sound like much, but in reality, who are we kidding? Anyway I'm going to TRY to post each day, but there will be times I might be MIA for a couple of days, just bear with me and I will catch up. Archives
