The kids have a day off from school.
(I have no idea why - I mean we just had Christmas break like last week - BUT I'm not complaining it was a welcome break.)
So we decided to go ice skating at City Hall.
You can imagine my surprise when Boy 1 ask if he and his girlfriend could come with us.
Trying to contain my excitement I responded with "For real?!"
When flipping through the pictures I took yesterday trying to decide which picture to choose for this project I had several that made the cut, maybe even better than this one, but this one, this one had me. Boy 1 used to play ice hockey (when he was little...) and he was awesome on ice skates. At some point he decided ice hockey wasn't for him and we stopped going to the rink. Today I told him not to worry ice skating was like riding a bike once you learn, you don't forget. I was wrong. Not for Boy 1. Thank goodness his girlfriend was close by to catch him.
This picture took me back...took me back to that little boy just learning how to skate. Getting up, falling down and getting back up again. When I look at this picture I see that little boy, all grown up in this big ol' body but still my little boy just learning to skate. I'm so glad he ask if he could come along for the fun today.
